Stark family tree

The Stark Family Tree represents one of the great houses of Westeros. House Stark represented as the wardens or rulers of the North who reside in Winterfell, Winterfell is an age-ancient castle known for its strong protection traits as well as the ancestral home of House Stark. As legend has it, the castle has been held by the Starks for 8000 years. The castle is located on Kingsroad, a road linking the great North Wall to the rest of the country with more than a thousand miles between the wall and King’s landing.

The Stark family’s sigil is one of a grey direwolf with the words “Winter is Coming” used as a house motto. This serves both as a reminder of the past and the future. The Stark family itself, bear similar family traits such as long faces, brown hair and grey eyes. Another common feature displayed by the children is that of having pet wolves.

The following characters are the most popular members of the Stark family. The Stark Family Tree certainly has seen a lot of action through the series denoted by their rich personal history.

  • Eddard Stark – Ned Stark is the Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North. Ned was executed by King Joffrey.
  •  Catelyn Stark – Catelyn Tully was born into the House Tully of Riverrun. She is the wife of Eddard Stark and mother to Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Rickon Stark. She dies along with her son Rob at the “Red Wedding”.
  • Rickard Stark a former Lord of Winterfell and father of Eddard Stark was executed in King’s Landing by Aerys II. He was burned alive because his son Brandon conspired to kill the prince Rhaegar Targaryen.
  • Brandon Stark – Brandon Stark is the son of Rickard Stark and brother of Eddard  Stark. Brandon Stark was promised to Catelyn Tully in marriage but unfortunately was killed before it came to pass.
  • Robb Stark – Robb is declared King of the North after the murder of his father. Having led sever successful battles in a failed attempt to become king of the seven kingdoms, he is eventually killed at the “Red Wedding” by Walder Fray. He was married to Jeyne Westerling, who also died at the wedding.
  • Sansa Stark – Sansa Stark is the daughter of Eddard Stark and Catelyn Tully. Sansa was betrothed to Joffrey Baratheon, eventually marrying Tyrion Lannister. She was forced to watch her father being killed before eventually escaping back to Winterfell.
  • Arya Stark – Arya is the daughter of Eddard Stark and Catelyn Tully. Having joined the elite assassins’ guild, the House of Black and White she has proved to exact revenge swiftly while keeping a list of people she intends to kill for revenge.
  • Bran Stark is the son of Eddard Stark and Catelyn Tully. Bran sets off on a journey on which he learns that he is the new Three-Eyed Raven, a powerful mystic which may hold some secret for the upcoming battle with the white walkers.
  • Rickon Stark is the youngest child of Eddard and Catelyn Stark. Rickon is captured and later murdered by Ramsay Bolton.
  • Jon Snow is the bastard son of Eddard Stark. Jon Snow was raised amongst the Stark children. When he becomes of age, he joins the Night’s Watch before eventually becoming lord commander of the Nightswatch and King of the North.
  • Lyanna Stark is the younger sister of Eddard Stark and the daughter of Lord Rickard Stark. Lyanna was abducted by the crown prince Rhaegar Targaryen. Her brother Brandon and father are both killed in an attempt to save her.
  • Benjen Stark is the younger brother of Eddard Stark and the son of Rickard Stark. Benjen was an established ranger of the Night’s Watch before disappearing on a rescue mission.  He shows up beyond the wall to save his nephew Bran Stark and Meera Reed from white walkers.
